As a manufacturing engineer, my area of expertise was the design and construction of specialized metal fabrication equipment. Making components better, faster, and cheaper right here in America. I have drawn on my expertise in laser beam technology to develop what we call the “laser stir welding” process. It is like friction-stir welding, but our process uses a non-mechanical method to stir the stainless steel material we are welding.
Using a high-density core laser beam to fully penetrate the tube wall, combined with a lower-density pulsed beam surrounding it, enables us to achieve a high-quality weld with a minimal heat-affected zone. Using this method, along with premium annealed stainless steel strip, we can manufacture an as-welded tube that forms and works as good or better than a conventional welded and annealed tube.
